The 19-year-old has had a number of high-profile clashes with club coach Emerson Leao, which have coincided with a drop in the scintillating form seen across his breakout season in 2011.
Lucas' agent Wagner Ribeiro went as far to call his client "a poorly-driven Ferrari" in reference to the trainer's alleged incompetence.

According to Ceni, who is currently recovering from injury and is expected to resume action later in the year, the teenage star is a rare talent and should be treated as such.

"I speak with Lucas almost every day. We need to appreciate this kid. He will be, no doubt about it, the star of the decade for this club; just like Kaka was in the 2000s and Denilson in the 1990s," the 39 year old told Globoesporte on Thursday.

"I don't think that he has talked about any serious issues, but the problem is that you [journalists] need news and you end up exaggerating things."

Sao Paulo currently lie third in the Paulista standings behind Corinthians and Palmeiras, having lost only one game so far in 2012. With stars like Lucas and Luis Fabiano in the squad, Ceni is in no doubt that he is seeing the best Tricolor team in several years.

"I can see this side is the best of the last five years, even counting 2008 when we were Brasileirao champions - we still did not have a team like this. They have everything: commitment, power and playing options," he explained.

Sao Paulo are back in action on Sunday, when they meet Santos in the Morumbi.

Description: A fantastic dribbler with great technique and a magical left foot, Zé Roberto can play anywhere on the left to devastating effect. Twice a Copa América winner with Brazil, Zé Roberto played at the 1998 FIFA World Cup but was overlooked for Korea/Japan four years later. He missed the 2001/02 Champions League final because of suspension.

José Roberto da Silva Jr. (born 6 July 1974 in Ipiranga), commonly known as Zé Roberto, is a Brazilian footballer who currently plays for the Brazilian Série A club Grêmio as midfielder.

Portuguesa
Zé Roberto started the youth ranks of the Lecture of São Bernardo, however, was playing in Portuguesa in São Paulo, Brazil, where he became known throughout Brazil because of the conquest of vice in the Brasileirão 1996.

Former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen star Ze Roberto has withdrawn his promise to exclusively return to Santos.

The 37-year-old midfielder will leave current employers Al Gharafa in June when his contract expires, and has made no secret of the fact that a second spell in Vila Belmiro would be his first choice.

Ze Roberto formerly appeared for the Brazilian powerhouses between 2006-07, winning the Paulista Championship and reaching the Copa Libertadores semi-finals in spectacular fashion.

Speaking on Wednesday, however, the veteran admitted that he felt left out in the cold by Santos’ indifference, and would not consider a move to another club.

“My word has crashed back down to earth, and the priority I had previously given to Santos is no longer valid. I cannot stay waiting at the mercy of one club,” Ze Roberto told Lance, explaining that he believed an agreement was in place with the 2011 Libertadores champions.

“In the past I have given my word to president (Luiz Alvaro Ribeiro) that, if I was to return to Brazil, Santos would have priority. I love the club dearly, but I have to have control of my own life.

In response, president Ribeiro left the door open for the ex-Brazil international to return.

“Santos are interested in seeing him come back. We need to talk with Muricy (Ramalho). At the start of the year he approved the transfer, but the team has changed since then and five months have passed,” Ribeiro said.

Ze Roberto lifted four Bundesliga titles with Bayern, and was also a two-time Copa America winner with Brazil during a glittering career.
